Orchestral Excerpts
In preparation for upcoming performances, all Concert and Symphony Orchestra strings will be recording excerpts from the repertoire during class. I hope that by identifying areas for focus, we can help our students as they prepare for a number of upcoming performances.
- Monday, February 29 - String coaching during school; Symphony Orchestra Rehearsal from 4:30 - 6:30.
- Tuesday, March 1 - Honor Orchestra Winds & Percussion Rehearsal from 3:30 - 5:00. Honor Orchestra Rehearsal (strings) from 6:00 - 9:00.
- Wednesday, March 2 - Concert Orchestra Rehearsal from 4:30 - 6:30.
- Thursday, March 3 - Mary Poppins at 6:00 PM.
- Friday, March 4 - Mary Poppins show at 7:00 PM.
- Saturday, March 5 - Closing Day! Mary Poppins at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Performance Reminders
As a general reminder, here are the performances that will take place as we move towards the Spring Break.
As a general reminder, here are the performances that will take place as we move towards the Spring Break.
- In School Preview for our Special Education Department - On Wednesday, March 16th, during second period, we will be performing for a number of our special education classes, who do not often have the opportunity to see our orchestras perform. This performance will only be during second period and with our Symphony Orchestra.
- Pre-Festival Concert - Wednesday, March 16th at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. This concert is shared with our Mira Mesa Bands. Tickets are $5 and are of the 'general admission' variety.
- 5:30 PM - Concert Orchestra, Concert Band, Symphonic Band
- 7:30 PM - String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble
- SCSBOA Festival - Saturday, March 19th. Pending any schedule changes at the request of the head adjudicator, the schedule below should be final. I will put together ensemble specific timelines shortly. This festival is sponsored by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association.
- CMEA Festival - Tuesday, March 22nd. Our Concert and Symphony Orchestras will be participating in a festival sponsored by the California Association for Music Education.

- Violin Strings - Five sets of Evah Pirazzi violin strings to help keep our students sounding great
- Strobe Tuners - Two portable Peterson StroboPlus HD tuners, which we can take 'on the road' when out performing at festivals, honor groups, or to assist in class/sectionals/etc.
- Rosin - A basic need to keep our bows in working order on a daily basis.
- MIDI Controller - A fun percussion/MIDI controller. This can be used by our orchestra when performing newer compositions and will also be of use to our band program.
Disney Opportunity | May 27-29
At the request of our musicians, we have looked into an opportunity to bring members of our Concert and Symphony Orchestras to Disney in May. Our Theatre Program, which sponsors a trip annually, has been kind enough to invite us along to join them on this trip (and Disney has been kind enough to accommodate our request).
