I am thrilled to have our first week behind us and am looking forward to the weeks and months ahead. The first few days of school are filled with various administrative tasks: completing course forms, assigning instruments, adjusting student schedules, etc.
We should be settled by the end of this week, so I want to take a minute and lay out how what lies ahead for our students.

Here is a quick look at some upcoming events and activities:
Parent Meeting
"Back to School Night" is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25th. We will be holding a brief parent meeting for all Symphony and Concert Orchestra parents following open house (beginning at 7:40 pm). Please make every effort to attend our meetings, as they will be infrequent, but informative.
Of course, all these events, and more (like our Symphony Orchestra quartet performances) are available 24/7 online using our Google Calendar.

Cherrydale, Fall String Auditions, and More
Here is a quick look at some upcoming events and activities:
- Cherrydale Fundraiser - On Monday, September 9th, we will be kicking off our annual Cherrydale fundraiser. I hope that many students will choose to participate and get us off to a solid start so we can continue to provide quality resources and opportunities.
- Fall Placement Auditions - Fall placement auditions will take place beginning next week (September 16-20) for our Symphony Orchestra students, and will continue into the following week (September 23-27) for our Concert Orchestra students. Prepare as diligently as you can for your audition so you get your year started on a positive note (no pun intended). The required audition material has been attached below.
- Monday Coachings - String coaching, a regularly scheduled occurrence, will begin on Monday, September 16th. Our string coaches are a fabulous resource, and this component of our string education program is one that is unique to Mira Mesa High School (at least, unique among San Diego Unified string programs).
- Course Forms - If you have not yet had the opportunity to complete our digital forms, please take a moment or two to do so. I will be updating our communication database, and current information is essential.
