A quick update for the week of January 13-19.
Disneyland 'California Adventure' Trip
Our intermediate and advanced orchestras will be traveling to Disneyland's California Adventure this Sunday, January 19th. We still have a number of students who need to turn in their permission slips - so please do this. Rehearsals will take place on Thursday and Friday afternoon from 2:45 - 5:00. On Friday (and likely Thursday as well) we will 'run through' all concert material shortly after 4:30. As always, parents are welcome to attend any rehearsals.

Final Exams | Semester II Placement Auditions
Final exams for Semester I are upon us. Our students will be testing both this week and next. Student performance times have been posted in the orchestra room. As a reminder, be prepared to play 10 minutes before your audition (be tuned, warmed up, etc). These placement exams are few and far between, so take advantage and show me (and yourself) how you have grown over the first semester.
I have again included the pertinent scales, etudes, and information below.

The final exam for our Symphony Orchestra students is the same at the material for the San Diego Unified School District Honor Orchestra. As a reminder, those auditions will be held February 11th here at Mira Mesa High School. As a reminder, any student who wishes to audition must request an audition time by filling out this brief Audition Request Google Form. Nadir Khashimov
Lastly, thank you to the La Jolla Music Society for coordinating a visit by violinist Nadir Khashimov. Nadir is a tremendous musician, so I will not list all of his accolades in this space. To learn more about Nadir, check out his bio on the LJMS website.
