On the Horizon
With so many events happening just this week, I want to keep the information manageable. However, additional events are on the horizon.

As always, all orchestra related events, assignments, rehearsals, and activities may be found on our Google Calendar.
- Orchestra Leadership - For all leaders who are available, please meet during lunch on Tuesday (November 12th) so we can discuss upcoming events and activities.
- Symphony Sectionals - Many of our Symphony Orchestra string sections will be holding sectionals after school on Tuesday November 12th. I would absolutely encourage members of our Concert Orchestra to do the same.
- String Coaching - Despite the Monday holiday, many of our string coaches are making themselves available this week, and will be in to work with out students on Wednesday, November 13th.
- Dudley's Orders - Will be arriving on Thursday evening. Please make every effort to take the orders home by the end of the day Friday, as the items will not keep for long!
- SCSBOA All-Southern Applications - Applications for the SCSBOA All-Southern Honor Orchestra are due this Friday, November 15th. Please see the information on the SCSBOA website, or take a look on our own site, under Honor Ensembles. Mira Mesa High School has yet to have a string player make this elite ensemble. However, Mira Mesa has also only infrequently even had anyone audition. Mr. Mulvaney and our coaches are happy to guide any student who wishes to audition.
- CCTE Ceremony - A small chamber ensemble will be performing on Friday, November 15th at the CCTE Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new screen printing facility. Remember to turn in your Excuse from Class Forms. Also, be prepared!
On the Horizon
With so many events happening just this week, I want to keep the information manageable. However, additional events are on the horizon.
- November 20th - Coffee fundraiser is due.
- November 20th - Boston Pops Orchestra Concert at Symphony Hall. Tickets will be provided free to our students. In addition, select students will be afforded the opportunity to meet maestro Keith Lockhart in a small setting. This amazing opportunity is being provided as a result of our continued partnership with the always generous La Jolla Music Society. The eclectic program will include pieces ranging from the classically oriented Overture to Candide (Bernstein) all the way to Freddie Mercury's Bohemian Rhapsody. The concert is sure to be a fun time!
- November 21st - We will be holding a parent meeting at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 21st for our orchestra parents and supporters. We will be discussing the upcoming Winter Concert (December 10th) and the upcoming Disney trip on January 19th, in addition to reviewing the opportunities that are available/have been available this year. Please make every effort to attend (especially our Symphony and Concert Orchestra parents).
