- Minimum Day - Periods 1, 3, & 5
- Challenger Orchestra Recruitment Event - Mr. Mulvaney will be visiting the Challenger Orchestra in the AM.
- Jazz Band Rehearsal - 12:45 - 2:45 pm in Room 404.
- Honor Band & Orchestra Rehearsal - SDSUSD Rehearsals from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Mira Mesa High School.
- School Site Council - Meeting at 6:00 pm to help decide how to use site funding in the future. This is your
opportunity to help influence how funds at Mira Mesa High School are utilized.

- PTSA Meeting - 6:00 pm in the main office.
Thursday, February 9th
- Orchestra Council Meeting - During Lunch
- Jazz Band Rehearsal - 2:30 - 4:30 pm in Room 404.

- 10th Grade Articulation begins for the 2012-13 academic year.
News & Notes
In other news, it happens to be that time of year when the school board is faced with the unenviable task of cutting millions and millions out of the district. Included in this year's budget "solutions" is a 50% cut to the Visual and Performing Arts Department. You can check for yourself here, on page 11 of the document. You will notice the 50% proposed reduction to VAPA. The centrally located VAPA office not only supports secondary music education (honor concerts, instrument repairs, professional development, supplies) but also runs the ENTIRE elementary music program. a 50% cut would be draconian. Fel free to email the board and voice your support for arts education. They may be reached directly by clicking here.
Now for better news... We will be taking students to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on February 19th. Details will be discussed during second period. They have an amazing program scheduled. Thank you to those who have already volunteer to chaperone!

Also, the Advanced Orchestra, Madrigals, and Wind Ensemble will be putting on a Festival Concert on March 22nd at 7:00pm. We will also be holding a Disney Parent Meeting at 8:30 pm following the concert regarding the trip on the 30th and 31st of March. See you there.
