San Diego Unified School District | Honor Orchestra Auditions
Honor Orchestra auditions for the 2014 San Diego Unified School District Honor Orchestra will take place on Tuesday, February 11th, at Mira Mesa High School.
Pre-registration has closed, and all students who have requested an audition time have been notified. Walk-ins are welcome subject to some basic walk-in guidelines. Audition times have been distributed via email, and have also been posted in the orchestra room.
A few quick reminders for those individuals auditioning:
I always appreciate everyone who takes the time to audition. Playing an audition takes courage, and I for one am proud of every student who chooses to participate in the process. A great deal can be learned from an audition, regardless of the outcome. So, thank you for your efforts.

- Arrive Early - Arrive well before your audition time so you can tune, warm up, re-tune, etc.
- Dress Professionally - You have 8-minutes to demonstrate fine playing and professional etiquette (so, you might as well look good while sounding great).
- Be Prepared - Audition materials are very clear. The audition will begin with scales, proceed to the prepared piece, and conclude with sight reading.
- Believe in Yourself - Have confidence in where you are as a musician. No one plays the 'perfect' audition, so don't worry about it. Do your best and leave the audition room knowing you performed the best you could in that moment!

Lastly, here's a snapshot from Saturday evening here in Mira Mesa. Our pit orchestra musicians are hard at work preparing for the musical, while other students (and alumni) are busy taking in a string quartet concert featuring the talented ladies of Quartet Nouveau.
