Final Exams
Final exams for orchestra students will take place starting Tuesday, and will run through next Monday. Students have been given the opportunity to sign up for a time that meets their academic schedule. The exam schedule is posted outside Room 405. Exams will be held this week in order to allow students to focus solely on their other exams during the traditional finals week. School wide exams will be held January 25-27. Again, here are the final exam requirements.
Honor Orchestra
The deadline to register online for the San Diego Unified School District Honor Orchestra Auditions is fast approaching. Apply by Wednesday to secure an audition time. Here is the link with all pertinent information. Again, students fortunate enough to be selected will perform at San Diego's Copley Symphony Hall, and all rehearsals are conveniently located here at Mira Mesa High School.
Farmers Insurance Open | PGA Tour
The Farmers Insurance Open, formerly known as the Buick Invitational, will be held on the Torrey Pines South Course from January 23-29. The Open has been kind enough to partner with the Mira Mesa Orchestras. We have a limited number of tickets available for purchase. The tickets are 47% cheaper than at the gate on the weekend, and we receive $15 from every ticket sold. Sell them at work, give them to friends, and support Mira Mesa High School students! :)

Upcoming Opportunities
Disney Trip - The Symphony Orchestra will be traveling to Anaheim, CA for a fun filled and musical trip to Disney. Orchestra students will participate in one of Disney's renown musical workshops. Please note that a $50 deposit is due by January 31st. Checks may be made payable to MMIMB.
Narek Hakhnazaryan, Cello - Mr. Hakhazaryan, winner of the 2011 Tchaikovsky International Music Competition on cello (a competition held in Moscow), will be visiting Mira Mesa on Friday, March 16th for a one time only performance. Narek is an incredible player. Read more about him at the La Jolla Music Society's website. And please do take a look at the video below.
Chicago Symphony, February 19th - As part of our ongoing partnership with the La Jolla Music Society, we will be offering a limited number of tickets, free of charge, to attend the Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert on February 19th. We will be needing driver/chaperones, so you too can take advantage of this incredible opportunity.
