Class of 2016
Congratulations to the Class of 2016! Again, I want to express my thanks to the members of this year's graduating class, who have contributed so much to our program.
This year's class can lay claim to a musical resume that includes Marquez, Bartok, Schubert, Faure, Walton, Vaughan Williams, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Grieg, Copland, Warlock, Vivaldi, Verdi, Fletcher, Bloch, Rutter, Addinsell, Delibes, Shoshtakovich, Holst, and more. They leave knowing they helped bring about additional orchestra classes (Concert Orchestra), the establishment of a Symphony Orchestra, the founding of a Solo & Ensemble Recital, helped start a string camp (the only of its kind in San Diego Unified), collaborated with peers in Seattle, and even worked right through to the end of senior year, helping earn an invitation for our orchestra to perform at Carnegie Hall.
In short, this class has been central to our program, and I am thankful for all of their time and effort. As I have said previously (to our students), graduation is a time to not only celebrate the accomplishments of our seniors, but also a time to ponder what yet they will achieve.

Summer Opportunities
We worked very hard in the closing week of school, monitoring our inventory so that students would have access to instruments over the summer. Given that everyone has access to an instrument, please consider the following summer opportunities.

Mira Mesa String Camp
Simply put, I would love all of our returning musicians to take part in this camp, which is the only one of its kind here in the San Diego Unified School District. This year's camp (our 3rd Annual Summer String Camp) will run from August 15-19.
The Daily Schedule is and Online Registration are now available. I hope to see as many musicians as possible take advantage of this opportunity!
