How Can You Help?
Hosting a variety of concerts is a group effort. In addition to volunteering at one of these events, here are some additional ways in which you can support out students, and the greater Mira Mesa Community, at these upcoming events.
As the school year begins to come to a close, please note that our Mira Mesa Orchestras have three remaining performances.
- Orchestra Area Concert - The Area Concert, which will feature select students from the elementary, middle, and high school orchestras within our Mira Mesa Community will take place on Wednesday, May 20th at 6:30 PM. This performance will take place in the gymnasium and will include members of our Symphony Orchestra.
- Spring Concert - Our annual Spring Concert will be held the following week on Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 PM. This concert will be held in our theater and will feature all of our orchestral musicians.
- Orchestra Banquet - The Orchestra Banquet, which will recognize the efforts of all of our students, will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd.
- Senior Awards - This award ceremony, held annually to recognize exemplary senior students, will be held on Tuesday, June 9th.
How Can You Help?
Hosting a variety of concerts is a group effort. In addition to volunteering at one of these events, here are some additional ways in which you can support out students, and the greater Mira Mesa Community, at these upcoming events.
- All Events - Volunteers! Please email Mr. Mulvaney if you would like to assist at one or more of these events.
- Area Concert - Donations of beverages and individually wrapped baked goods (to be sold for $1 each).
- Spring Concert - Donations of baked goods, beverages, and other concession items.
Auditions & Scheduling for 2015-16
Registration packets for the 2015-16 academic year will be going home this week. I am fully committed to helping every musician stay involved with our orchestra program. I am fully aware of the multitude of requirements students face and am here to help as is necessary (we have in place a variety of options to assist students and families in this regard). Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in navigating the registration process.
Students who are interested in joining the Symphony Orchestra for 2015-16 should prepare and perform an audition at their convenience. The audition packet, with required scales and excerpts, is available online here.

2014 String Camp Orchestra
Summer String Camp (2015)
Summer String Camp, which was received very well last year, will be back! Feel free to save the dates for this year's edition, which will run from August 17-21.
Last year's camp included masterclasses on topics suggested by musicians during registration, lunch, section work with string coaches, lunchtime activities, and ensemble time. The week, planned in collaboration with both our annual band camp, concluded with a concert here on campus!
