Site Guide & Intentions
First, it's been a while since our last update. We've been busy working alongside our students - and there's a photo album below that captures some of our students in action.
Next, I hope that our students, parents, and supporters will find this website to be a useful resource. Located on the main page is a blog. In addition to the front-page blog, there is a useful Calendar that you may access and/or synch to your various devices (orchestra events appear in purple), ensemble pages for both our Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra musicians, and information on various Honor Ensembles (All-Southern, All-State), among other items.
Throughout the year, the site will be updated to reflect current events and opportunities. Please do use the site as a resource. Of course, if you have any further questions, you may can always simply send me an email.

Current Fundraising Opportunities
There are two current fundraising/support opportunities available for those individuals and families who would like to support our orchestra program - DonorsChoose.org and Dudley's Bread.

DonorsChoose.org
In the past we have been successfully able to fund projects to support students in a variety of ways at a fraction of the total expense by exploring projects via DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is again offering a number of project incentives including automatic anonymous 50% matching and 'first week matching' using the promo code SPARK.
The Bottom Line: We can fund this entire project by funding only 25% of the total cost by taking advantage of all of the matching programs!
We have put together a project which includes a variety of replacement string sets and basic digital technology equipment (albeit my writing was less than eloquent this time, as I was hustling to get the project submitted to take advantage of available matching programs). String sets will be used to replace old and aging strings that may be found on a number of our orchestra instruments. The digital technology will allow us to share more efficiently with all of our students a variety of digital resources, including a strobe tuner, metronome, pitch generator, and digital audio/video.
As an added incentive, DonorsChoose.org is a 501(c)3 charity so donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of US law. Receipts are provided when you make a donation!

Again, an anonymous donor has agreed to fund 50% of the total project if we can successfully fund the other 50%. Of our half, we only need to raise half of that by taking full advantage the first-week matching promo code SPARK.
Here's how to take advantage of all available matching programs and fund this project for only a fraction (25%) of the total cost:
Mrs. Mulvaney (my incredibly supportive mother) and I are have already logged on and made donations to get us started. Please consider joining us as we work to support all of our Mira Mesa musicians.

Busy Musicians
Lastly, while the school year may be just over six-weeks old, our students have already been long at work. Since August, our students have enjoyed musical opportunities ranging from performances in our first ever String Camp (which was a tremendous success and an opportunity we are able to provide again), to a performance by a student string quartet at a local wedding, to the beginning of school and the auditions and musical opportunities that greet students each year, including side by side coaching sessions with local string professionals.
Below are a few sample photos from the start of this year. Enjoy!
