Thank You
Thank you to all our students and families who came to open house last week. It was great meeting everyone, and I look forward to working alongside our parents and supporters as we continue to provide the best opportunities and experiences possible for our students. Should you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email.
NOTE: I would like to congratulate all members of our third period orchestra for their quartet and small ensemble performances. Playing in fron of your peers takes a lot of courage, and you all performed really well. I could not be prouder of your performances.
Time to Work
Now that the first few weeks are over, and all 79 (yes, seventy-nine) orchestra auditions have been completed, we will be getting started on our first set of concert music. I appreciate everyone taking the time to come in and audition, and I hope that everyone left the room with a concept or two they can work on to enhance their technical skills.
We will begin our regular 4:00 - 6:00 Monday rehearsals this week with our Period 3 (Symphony Orchestra) students. These will start this Monday, October 1st. They were a critical component of our success last year, and I know that they will once again prove invaluable this year.
New for This Year
Last year our Symphony Orchestra students received weekly coaching sessions from the best players and educators in San Diego. This year, we will be expanding our coaching opportunities to include both second and third periods. Our fabulous coaching faculty include: Kimberly Hain (Violin), Allison Roush (Violin), Annabelle Terbetski (Viola), Bing Yan (Cello), and Jory Herman (Bass). Truly, this is the best group of educators around. Thank you for supporting this program!
Coming Soon
We are planning a one-day rehearse-a-thon, which is going to take place on Friday, October 19th, from 3:00 - 7:00 pm (pending school administrative approval). The rehearsal will take place here at school, and will include students from both Periods 2 (Concert) and 3 (Symphony). Food will be provided during a break in rehearsal. This will be a great chance to have all of our orchestra 3-4 students work together (and hang out together).
Lastly, while out and about this weekend, I ran into the fabulous Hausmann Quartet. I will be in contact with them soon, and hope to be able to arrange an on campus performance by this fine string group (pictured below at this past weekend's Adams Avenue Fair).
