Closing Thanks (2016)
Looking ahead to the Spring 2017 Semester, there are a lot of wonderful opportunities that will be available to our musicians!
But first, let's offer a round of thanks to close out 2016!
(1) Thank you to the Mira Mesa High School Foundation for choosing to fund quality new strings for EVERY violinist, violist, and cellist in our Symphony Orchestra! Their support, which exceeds $5,000, will provide high quality string sets to 44 musicians. Bassists, fear not - we re-strung our basses last year.

(2) Thank you to a donor from the Mira Mesa Town Council for her generous support! Following a recent performance of our Symphony Orchestra at the Mira Mesa Town Council Holiday Celebration, a donor came forward, inspired by the commitment and excellence displayed by our musicians. This generous individual has elected to make an $1,800 donation to support our musicians as they work towards a spring performance travel opportunity!
(3) Thank you to our composer partners, Mr. Steven Danyew and Ms. Ellen Golden, for writing/transcribing works for our Mira Mesa Orchestras this semester! It is a tremendous privilege to have the opportunity to premiere a work, and our musicians had an opportunity to premiere two! Thanks again to these fine folks for bringing to our community Goodnight, Goodnight and Cityscape.
(4) Thank You to DonorsChoose.org for providing $1,000 worth of new strings for members of our Concert Orchestra earlier this fall! These strings were made available to members of our Concert Orchestra at no cost to our program. 100% of the funding was provided through the DonorsChoose.org 'Fuel Your School' program. Thank you!
(5) Thank you to all our supporters who helped guide us through this first section of the school year! Thank you to the families and individuals who have helped support us through the fall season. Whether you provided items for fundraisers, attended our Cookout, Winter, or Benefit Concerts, or made a tax-deductible donation to support our coaching program (as these funds are raised nearly exclusively via charitable donations), thank you!
Our 2016-17 donation letter (originally distributed in September), detailing how charitable contributions benefit our students, has been attached below.

(6) Thank you to all of our string coaches who join us each week to guide, mentor, teach, and inspire our musicians. They really are at the center of our program at Mira Mesa, and I for one, am more than thankful to have them on our 'team'!

Weekly access to these coaches comes at a fraction of the cost of private lessons. While I obviously encourage any musician study privately (i.e. pursue individual private lessons), I also understand that lessons require a significant financial commitment. These homogenous coaching sessions provide some of the benefits or private study, but benefit EVERY student in our program.
Please do feel free to read more about this wonderful musicians, teachers, and people at our String Faculty page!

(7) And last, but certainly not least, thank you to our wonderful students! Our program is only as strong as the students who choose to make it their home, and I am thankful to share time with such a great group of kids.
Truly, I love or kids and hope that we do an adequate job serving them!
