Masterclasses & Workshops
In addition to working alongside our string faculty, students at the 2nd Annual Mira Mesa Summer String Camp will be treated to unique masterclass to start each day (Monday - Thursday). Each morning, a special guest will join us to share their insights as it pertains to the topic of the day. Notably, these masterclasses are scheduled based on the input of the students. Topics are suggested via the online registration and classes are then booked based on this input.

Camp Preview | Audition Preparation with P.J. Cinque
One of the most widely requested topics this year has been that of audition preparation. I can think of no better individual to discuss this topic than the San Diego Symphony's most recent audition winner, bassist P.J. Cinque.

Bassist P.J. Cinque
"Double bassist P.J. Cinque joined the San Diego Symphony in 2015. Prior to his appointment to the SDSO, he was a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and performed regularly with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. As an educator, Mr. Cinque served as the double bass professor at Capital University in Columbus, OH. A native of Long Island, he received his bachelor and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School and his principal teachers include Homer Mensch, Timothy Cobb, Albert Laszlo and Owen Lee. During his studies, Mr. Cinque participated in the Pacific Music Festival and spent three summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School as an orchestral fellowship recipient."
I am thrilled to have P.J. on board for camp and I look forward to seeing what he has to offer our students! Also, you could ask him about his amazing first month on the job, which included playing in the surprise Comic-Con Star Wars Concert, put on by Lucasfilm and movie director J.J. Abrams!
