Copley Symphony Hall
Congratulations to the 12 orchestra students who were selected to perform in the San Diego Unified School District Honor Orchestra. In total, Mira Mesa High School had 45 representatives in the band and orchestra, more than double that of any other school.
The groups performed on Saturday night, February 21st, and put on a great show. Orchestral selections included the Procession of the Nobles (from Mlada), the first movement from Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, "Pastoral", and the Dance of the Apprentices and Mastersingers' Processional (from Die Meistersinger).
The concert was fantastic, and Mira Mesa had great representation. In addition, our own Mrs. Christensen was awarded the David Paul Schuchman Award, recognizing her efforts as an exceptional music educator. Mira Mesa's own Ms. Leonard even came to support our fine students. Thank you and congratulations to one and all!

- Disney trips should be cleared by March 1st (Symphony Orchestra). Again, we have been selected not only to participate in a workshop, but also to perform live in the park!
- Our regular Monday rehearsal this week is ONLY for 2nd Violins and Basses.
- Jazz Band will meet on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
- Orchestra council will meet Wednesday at lunch.
- Phantom of the Opera pit will meet on Monday afternoon from 2:30 - 4:30. Super Saturday this weekend!
- Dates - March 14th (String Quartets at Open House), March 22nd (Festival Concert at Mira Mesa High School), March 28th (Jazz & String Quartets at the Taste of Mira Mesa), and March 29-30 (Disney trip).
- Finally, on March 16th we will have a special guest cellist performing on campus.
