New Music(!)
Since returning from break, our ensembles have begun working on new music. Musical recordings and supplemental information are posted on each ensemble's page (Symphony, Concert, Debut) and on our Musician's Only page. Please use these resources to help yourself prepare for the end of the year concerts. As a reminder, our final 'all orchestras' concert will take place on June 8th here at Mira Mesa High School. Tickets for this concert will be available in May. As has been the case previously, we will offer our seniors and their families an early access window as a small sign of our thanks and appreciation.

Quartet Nouveau
Our students came back from break and immediately presented with a musical opportunity. Quartet Nouveau was kind enough to visit our introductory string class on Wednesday, April 6th, during 5th period. Many thanks to the musicians of Quartet Nouveau and the San Diego chapter of the American Federation of Musicians for making this visit possible.

- Monday, April 11th - String Coaching (Mr. Allen and Ms. Yan); Symphony Orchestra rehearsal from 4:30 - 6:30 pm (strings only - winds will be added once our final selection arrives); Solo & Ensemble 'check-ins'
- Tuesday, April 12th - Concert Orchestra rehearsal from 4:30 - 6:30 pm, Solo & Ensemble 'check-ins'
- Wednesday, April 13th - String Coaching (Ms. Terbetski and Dr. MacAdam-Somer); Symphony and Concert orchestra work in sectionals during periods two, three, and four; Mr. Mulvaney off campus today (adjudicating a festival)
- Thursday, April 14th - The Hausmann Quartet will be visiting Mira Mesa during Period 2 in order to coach our musicians who are performing in the evening concert (thank you to San Diego State University School of Music and Dance and the Hausmann Quartet for making this visit possible); Solo & Ensemble Concert at 6:30 pm (details below)
Solo & Ensemble Recital
On Thursday, April 14th, at 6:30 pm, we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Solo & Ensemble Recital. This performance opportunity provides our students the chance to play solo or chamber selections. Playing individually, or in small ensembles, is a great way to improve your musicianship, as it really stresses individual responsibility and musicality.
Our concert on Thursday evening will take place in our Mira Mesa theater at 6:30 pm and admission is free. Come on out and enjoy an evening of duets, solos, and small ensembles!

Downtown | San Diego State University Music Department
On Friday, April 15th at 7:30 pm, the San Diego State University School of Music and Dance will be performing a concert at the Jacobs Music Center (Symphony Hall). The concert, 'Downtown', will feature San Diego State's top orchestra, wind, and choral ensembles.
All proceeds from the concert will be used to support Music Education students at San Diego State University through scholarships. The East County Magazine recently wrote up a small article on the performance.
A number of Mira Mesa graduates will be performing in this event and I am sure they would be thrilled to see some Marauders in attendance!
