A Two Week Glimpse
First, thank you to all families who have taken part in recent fundraisers, including Dudley's Bread. The Dudley's Order will be in on November 20th, just in time for the Thanksgiving recess.
Next, there are a number of opportunities on the horizon for our students. With that in mind, here is a glimpse at this week and next. As always, all events and opportunities are posted on our Google Calendar.

Mr. Jeremy Kurtz-Harris, Double Bassist
October 27th - November 1st
- Monday, October 27th - Regular string coaching continues during periods two, three, and four. In addition, principal bassist from the San Diego Symphony, Mr. Jeremy Kurtz-Harris (website) will be on campus spending time with our bassists alongside Mr. Jory Herman (website). Finally, regular Symphony Orchestra Rehearsal from 4:30 - 6:30 will be held.
- Wednesday, October 29th - Bass Masterclass at San Diego State University. Our students are welcome to attend and watch as SDSU students work on the second and third movement from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. A complete bass masterclass schedule is available here. Admission to all classes is free.
- Thursday, October 30th - This year's edition of the Challenger Middle School & Wangenheim Middle School Fall Concert will be held at Mira Mesa High School. The concert is at 6:30 PM and will feature the top orchestras from both Wangenheim and Challenger Middle Schools. Our students will be volunteering at the event - details, including call time and dress code are posted on Mr. Mulvaney's office window.
- Saturday, November 1st - Our school will again be hosting the Mira Mesa Band Review and Field Tournament. A number of volunteers will be requested to assist in executing this event. Please see Mr. Mulvaney for details.

November 3rd - November 7th
- Monday, November 3rd - Regular string coaching continues. After school, Symphony Orchestra rehearsal will be held from 4:30 - 6:30, and will include relevant winds and percussion for a first reading of the McCormick Fanfare.
- Wednesday, November 5th - Concert Orchestra will rehearse after school from 4:30 - 6:30. In addition, the bass masterclass series at San Diego State continues with a one-hour session beginning at 5:00 PM.
- Thursday, November 6th - The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra will be in San Diego for a one night only concert. Program notes are available here, courtesy of the La Jolla Music Society. Once again this year, we are proud to continue our educational partnership with the La Jolla Music Society. The La Jolla Music Soceity has generously donated 30 tickets to the concert and we will be coordinating a carpool to attend the event.
