*** NEW *** Orchestra Course Code
With grades closing this week a significant number of students will soon see a new orchestra course on their transcripts. Our third year orchestra juniors will now see 'Orchestra 5,6' appear on their report cards and school transcripts.
Our Mira Mesa musicians are the first students in the district to receive this designation and they are more than deserving of this new classification. This new course code will better serve our musicians and families, as it will enable our students to show (on their transcripts) a continued commitment to their craft. Given that we were successful in implementing this course, one should expect that we will be tasked with piloting Orchestra 7,8 for our fourth year senior musicians during the 2017-18 school year.
Many thanks are due to our Visual and Performing Arts Department, and Ms. Laura Williams in particular, for helping facilitate this positive change for our students and community. Thank you!

NOW Ensemble
The New York based NOW Ensemble will be visiting San Diego as part of their spring tour. Art of Élan and the San Diego Art Institute will be hosting this event, 'Agents of Change', on Tuesday, May 9th. Members of our Mira Mesa Orchestras have been invited to perform in advance of this event. While admission to the event is free, interested individuals must secure an e-ticket.

Disney Parent Meeting
There will be a Disney meeting for all participating students and parents next Thursday, May 11th, at 6:30 pm here at Mira Mesa High School. Please make every effort to attend, as all requisite forms will be collected at this event.
